S7 E9 – Steady Progress with Steph Young

This week on the Business Brush, Steph Young joins Nick. Young is a painter based in Bedford, New Hampshire and the founder of Pro Image Painting. Like it says in the well-produced intro video on its website, Pro Image is “a women owned and operated company” that Young started in 2007 after some shady experiences working for another paint contractor.

This week on the Business Brush, Wendy Weller, owner of House of Paint and Design in St. Louis. Weller is not a designer, but she runs her business that blossomed out of a Facebook group called Handyman STL. She needed something to do in addition to being a stay-at-home mom and to round out her family’s income when her late husband wasn’t getting work as a union carpenter. So she found herself doing all kinds of contract work until she found herself painting more and more. Now she painter who offers some design help wrapped up in her services.

S7 E6 – Running a Franchise with Peter Magnolia

This week on the Business Brush, Nick invites Peter Magnolia to share all about his experience as a painting franchise owner. Magnolia grew up in a business family, working in his parents’ resteraunt as a kid and eventually transitioning as an adult into painting.

When his own business wasn’t working out perfectly, Magnolia had to move on but couldn’t move on from painting, so he bought a franchise with Five Star Painting.

Magnolia lays out who franchise opportunities are for, the benefits of working withing a franchise and all the pitfalls a painter might encounter in this section of the industry.

S7 E5 – Knowing Your Value with Corrie Leister

This week on The Business Brush, Nick sits down with cabinet painter Corrie Leister of Inspired By U, a company that specializes in custom painting for furniture and cabinets. She’s also one of the admins for the Facebook groups Painting Kitchen Cabinets for Profit and one of the women behind Cabinet Painting University, an online course that teaches painters how to get started painting cabinets.

This episode is about the joy of painting cabinets, running Facebook groups and freeing yourself from imposter syndrome to reach your full potential.
